New Finds

It’s June and the heat has kicked in … just in time for Richie to get back to work on the house. (poor thing!) Every year it takes a few days to adjust to a new way of living and working. Going from educator to carpenter, welder, electrician, plumber, and all around handy guy in the 100 degree weather takes some adjusting. We’ll start out easy and work into it. So until he/we really get going on some renovation projects lets talk about some good “stuff” we found this past weekend.

Check out this really cool Andy Warhol bag that Richie spotted for me at an estate sale. I was too busy looking at all the vintage purses and hats so I’m happy he has the “EYE”.  I love it! For $4.00 too. After a good scrubbing most of the stains came off and it looks pretty darn good. Being an art lover… this was a really fun find.  I love the little soup can for your change.

In an earlier post I talked about my desire and love for all the Merimekko products and fabrics but just couldn’t splurge on anything right now. Well somebody was listening because I stumbled upon a Merimekko serving tray at a discount store for a few dollars. How great and timely!

I also found some Keith Haring coffee cups. Richie and I drink coffee like crazy so we love new mugs. Warhol and Haring… it was an “arty” weekend.

I’m lovin’ my tray!  We are red wine lovers and a good bottle can be expensive… but it doesn’t have to be. There are some really great wines for under $20 out there. I’ve been on a Santa Cristina kick for the last couple of weeks. It’s wonderful and you can find it for $9.00 – $12.00 a bottle. If you enjoy red wine, give it a try.

One last find was this crazy little candle holder for the porch.  I admit, it looks pretty rough right now, but I think after we work a little magic on it, it could be kind of fun all lit up at night.  We’ll see.

It’s fun to look through other peoples treasures… we always find something that can be cleaned up, fixed, or re-purposed. It’s how we got here, I guess.

More to come soon, as we prepare to get back to work on the renovation. I saw Richie digging in the wood pile and getting out his mitre saw this afternoon so it’s comin’! Unfortunately I have a small injury and am having pain in my left hand. Going to the doctor tomorrow to get an x-ray. Hope it’s not broken. That could really damper my spirit…. and slow things down. (fingers crossed! … on the good hand.)
