Take A Seat

I’m often asked… WHY? Why in the world don’t you hire someone to finish up this house of yours? Good grief, that’s an excellent question and my usual answer is … well, because there’s lots of stuff I can do myself and hiring someone is not only expensive but a nightmare. (we’ve all been there!) NIGHTMARE! But this post is about another reason we do it all ourselves.

The thing is that I’m not a rich person. I make a good living and so does my husband… but we are not wealthy people. We have beautiful things that we’ve worked very ….

Time to take a break from “working out” and talk about the things that make our homes special. Whether you’re mid-century or traditional, all of us love to fill our homes with beautiful FURNITURE!
Some of it we collect from estate sales, buy on a whim, get handed down from grandma or pick up off the side of the road. Putting a home together should be fun and for me it has and does take years. I love the look of a home that has morphed over many years of collecting over a home that gets decorated in a weekend from ….

Well hello! I’m Stacey, it’s nice to be here. Glad you came to visit… I almost forgot I even had a blog it’s been so long since I put my hands on the keyboard or unloaded my camera pics. Ah, life… it’s good… it’s busy and it’s been whipping my butt! Speaking of butt… I thought I’d do a post on one of my favorite spots to park mine. Our Knoll sofa.

Nice Legs!

When something doesn’t go the way you planned… just put some hair-pin legs on it… and everything is alright! Nothing beats a nice pair of legs, right? Long, short, skinny, thick… metal, wood, or concrete…. there are so many kinds to love. Of course I’m talking about furniture and particularly the little tables we planned for our bed side.

These pretty legs arrived a week ago after I realized the little “box” tables that Richie built for our last platform bed would not work in our new master bedroom. The tables are suppose to hang and “float” on the wall but ….

King Sized!

After lots of work and a failed attempt at making our king sized platform bed for the master bedroom I’m happy to say “roll over and stay on your side”….. IT’S DONE! Well, almost… I still need a mattress (minor detail).

Poor Richie… check out the sweat drip coming off his nose in the 100 degree weather. Wonderful husband!!

Boy does it feel good to say “it’s done”. I know Richie just about had a heart attack when I told him I wasn’t happy with our first attempt at making this bed. If you read a recent post that we ….

I love to share the many things we find each week and I’ve been holding back on this post because I didn’t know how we were going to handle this. It required thought and consideration… and has been the topic of countless dinner conversations at our house. We’ve finally made a decision and so I must share. I’m too damn excited not to.

Thrifty Finds

It’s been a pretty good week for finds and I thought I’d share a few. We are always on the hunt for things big and small and usually find at least one or two things worth keeping. Sometimes we find stuff that we don’t need but know we can sell. We’re not crazy hoarders or anything but I’ve learned over the years to NOT say “no” and walk away too fast. Sometimes you regret leaving things behind.

There was a silent auction at the University where I work and I’ve bought a few things in the past but usually it’s just ….

Renovation is S-L-O-W. At least it is at my house. My father-in-law told me over the Easter weekend that I could have built a new house by now. (sigh) Of course he was joking and he loves to tease me because I’m a perfectionist. I enjoy his teasing… it’s love in the most fun way! Here’s the thing, though…. slow is not really a good thing in the blogging world. But who cares, right!
