Pinched, Framed and Purple Matsumoto

posted on

I’m sure you’re starting to think this is becoming a floral blog with all these weekly posts about the fresh flowers I bring home.  I swear to you I have not lost my mind… but I have certainly lost my ability to walk, bend over, stand for too long, sit for too long, or even feel my left foot.  So all I can really do is stare at flowers all day.  Which has been a comforting part of my otherwise painful week. (month, … I mean 6 weeks)

I’m not a bitcher or complainer but I’m telling you I’ve never ….

Fresh Friday: Red Tulips

posted on

This week I tip toed and bought some tulips! The market was filled with flowering bulbs, and while wondering through the displays I could have sworn it was spring.

Pinks, purples, yellows, and whites surrounded me, but eventually red was the mood I was in. A simple glass vase that originally held a gorgeous bouquet from my husband many anniversaries ago still looks pretty no matter what goes in it. I do have a thing for clear glass containers.

The weather this week has been crazy with sleet, snow, and freezing rain. Work was cancelled for 2 1/2 days and ….

Fresh Friday

I don’t know about you, but I’m always happy to get the holiday decorations back in their boxes. It’s all so pretty when you put them out but when they come down you really appreciate your home just as it was — clean, simple, uncluttered. Okay, that made it sound like I’m the queen of keeping things clean and organized which couldn’t be further from the truth. But it does feel good to get back to “normal” (whatever that is).

Of course that meant moving things around again and freshening up our space. The large glass dome (cloche) I pulled out ….

Fresh Flowers, Christmas Spirit… and a Birthday!

posted on

Whewww, it’s been a busy week for me, as I’ve been working my tail off at the station to cross off my VERY long list of things to do before my holiday vacation.  It’s a mad dash to finish because I’m off for THREE WEEKS!  Yes, three glorious, fun-filled weeks.  Okay, fun-filled for weirdos like me means lots of work around this house… and I CAN’T WAIT!

I realize Christmas madness excitement has kicked in for most people and I’ve really enjoyed all the holiday sparkle around the blogosphere.  It seems to have done the impossible and put me in the ….

Fresh Friday: Pink Roses

posted on

This Friday is so fresh I can still smell the Roses! Pretty Pink Roses and a mix of other surprises made their way home with me from the market this week.  A mix of greens, pinks, greys, whites, and evergreens make up this weeks arrangement.  All chosen for a dish I have never used for flowers but have been dying to try.

My kitchen counter is the perfect place and height for these projects.  Richie passed by the kitchen and said (I KID YOU NOT)  “you smell good… what’s that perfume”?  Ummmmm, honey… it’s called “pink roses”.  Yes, they all ….

Fresh Friday

I enjoy having fresh flowers in my home and most of the flowers I buy are from our local supermarkets. I love how they place the flowers right at the store entrance so you have to walk by them and WANT them! Of course I want ALL of them. A bundle almost always makes its way home with me each week.

As much enjoyment as I get out of them they eventually droop, wilt, and say farewell, so I thought I’d start a FRESH FRIDAY post on my blog to feature the pretty flowers that make their way home with me. ….

A Little Help from Mother Nature

posted on

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday. Well… actually there wasn’t much celebrating because I took 3 naps during the day. I’m not sure if it’s because I crashed after a tough six weeks at “work” or if it’s because I turned 45 and that’s just what “old” people do… they nap. It may be a little of both… and for the record if naps are what come with getting older then I totally approve!

The past 6 weeks have been intense for me and I’m starting to come through it. The fundraiser is over and my schedule is finally going to get ….
