I’m so thankful

posted on

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am happy and THANKFUL to say that I met my Thanksgiving deadline to finish the kitchen. Aside from a few decorating projects I’m basically done with the “work”. Richie, however, is NOT! The final part of the project is all his… and now I will patiently wait for him. He will box in the top portions of the cabinets on the right and left sides of the sink and I’ll paint and make them pretty. Hopefully we can get that done in the next week or so. Until then I’m enjoying the fruits of my (our) labor. It’s such a joy to be in and every morning I enter the kitchen with a smile on my face! Here are some pictures that I took this morning… which seems to be a bad time to take them because they always turn out so dark. There’s so much natural light in the room that the flash won’t go off and I’m lazy about making adjustments. But you can get the idea. Enjoy.

AHHHH, memories. Here’s a shot of the kitchen/living area when we got the house. We’ve come so far, don’t you agree?  The power of WHITE PAINT… it’s a room changer, for sure.

More pictures of the kitchen. Thanks to everyone for putting up with my boring posts for the last 8 weeks. I appreciate all your sweet comments and encouragement. It helped keep me going!

My recycling drawer has already been filled once and sent to the recycling center.  We really are going to use the heck out of this.

The microwave now has a home and it fits perfectly.

We have collected Russel Wright dishes for many, many years and now have a few
places to display some of the special pieces.

The extended counter really makes the kitchen feel bigger.  The extra horizontal space is amazing.

The Navy counter stools arrived about 10 days ago and they are the perfect height for the counter.  They’re also indestructible and light as a feather.  We have always loved these chairs.

The colors in picture below look really funky!  The light and my bad picture taking skills are not doing it justice.

    Stacie and Richie,
The kitchen is really groovin’. Looks better than some of the stuff I see in Dwell. Coolest house in SE Texas.

    Stacie,
Your pictures are fine and it looks like you truly are living like they do in the magazines!! You have done such a lovely job. I think Rex and Ruth would be so proud… and I believe you have even improved on a few things! Enjoy ‘The Holidays’ in your wonderful, newly completed, and updated kitchen!!!

Thanks Rebecca. I’m pinching myself just a little because I can’t believe it’s finally done. I thought I’d never get here. With so much needing to be done to the house I thought it would be the very last thing on the list. Life is great that way. It all worked out perfectly.
