Good finds & pretty things

posted on

The kitchen is pretty much done and my brain and body had a few days of rest… which led me right back where I need to be. Enjoying all that I have and I that we have done. I’m blessed! The approaching holidays are always good for us, as we both have almost 3 weeks off work and our creative juices kick into overdrive. It’s such a fun time for both of us. I’ll be posting lots of handmade projects over the next few weeks.

Today was about taking time to enjoy the house and some of the simple things around me that bring such joy to my day. It’s also about sharing some of our “good finds” at estate sales

Lovely “Diamond Frost” picked from my back yard. These are one of my favorite plants/flowers. They make a room like instantly pretty.

I love to collect little handmade things and postcards, pictures, and small things from trips and events. I hang them on string and enjoy their color and shape, as well as the memories of each.

We have boxes of pretty little things we collect and keep. Some people call it “junk”… we call them treasures.

This cactus was no bigger than my ring finger when I bought it last year and it has gone crazy. Aside from a little burn over the summer it has multiplied and become such a cool beauty. I love him so much!

Richie has always had great luck at finding wonderful things at estate sales. He has such a great eye and gets mad at me because when he bring stuff home I get my hands on it and, well.. it’s MINE! (luckily he shares good). He found a wonderful Railroad Lantern that he has been wanting for over 20 years. He has a love of trains and the old stories of hobos riding the trains. I think he secretly wants to be a hobo. He cleaned it up and wired it for a light. It’s in SUPER great shape.

He also found this Raymor pot, which is very collectable. He’s never seen one around here so snagged it immediately! It cleaned up nicely.

I love the sticker! What a hoot.

He also got this large silver ball that weighs a TON! It’s so heavy I imagine it weighs about 10 pounds. (what the hell is it?) We don’t know but we love it and have lots of little silver balls that we collect so I mixed them with this large one. I think it’s great!

My red camellias are starting to bloom and I love driving up to the house and seeing their pretty red buds. I have had the BEST luck with all the plants we put in our landscape over the last 2 years. Everything is growing so well.

It’s so easy to become a homebody living in this house. We love it and appreciate it EVERY DAY! Have a great week.
