I’m at war… with the sun!  I love you shiny sun.  I love how you brighten my life and my home… but you’re starting to get me HOT….  and not in a way my husband would enjoy.

What I’m about to say is NOT a complaint because having a home with floor to ceiling windows is really special, but it has and continues to be a real challenge.  You have this amazing view to the outside world that makes you feel like you’re never “stuck inside”.  You watch the birds, the rain, the squirrels (who eat your tomatoes out of the ….

shades with a view

Almost two years after we bought the first set of shades for our living room/kitchen area we decided to order more for the top portions of the windows. This entire side of the house is glass and although we love the light and the openness it can create problems. The sun is now BEAMING on the south side which is great, as it heats the concrete floors and keeps the house toasty when it’s cold but nobody wants the long-term effects that UV light has on your rugs, paint, upholstery, artwork and cabinetry. Solar shades really are the perfect answer, ….
