Lit Up!

posted on

Just a quick post as I’ve been working … or rather “piddling” around the house… not really accomplishing too much. With school about to start it’s been pretty crazy for Richie as he switches gears from carpenter, painter, bed builder, and all around worker to “teacher”. It’s a bit of whiplash, but he accomplished a lot during the summer!

Work on the bedroom has been slow, as we’ve had to turn our attention to other things. When you’re working on a renovation and focused on getting things done, you tend to ignore things… so I had to address the “other” stuff. The dirty toilets, mounds of laundry, the landscape and yard, etc. were screaming for my attention. I did, however manage to hang my Artemide Tolomeo micro reading lamps and a few pieces of art, so that’s one more thing off the bedroom list.

The Tolomeo line from Artemide is a favorite of ours and I’m super excited about finally getting these up.  They’re perfect for the space… not too big… not too small… and adjustable in every possible way.

And a few more pictures as we continue to shape this room up! …….

I have some side tables that I’ve ordered legs for and several other projects on the list so the work will continue for a few weeks.  But TODAY, we now have a place to sleep… and that feels SO GREAT!

I’ve also been working on moving my blog to another hosting server and it’s pretty much complete.  I’ll still be at www.agoodehouse.com but will no longer be at wordpress.com.
It’s sort of confusing and I’ll explain it all in my next post, as it will also change a few things for those of you who have been following our progress.  It will also change a few things for me as a blogger, as hosting with no restrictions will allow me to do things with my blog that were not possible before.  I’m excited!

Hope you have a good week!  We continue to work on the outside painting and as soon as we move the scaffolding out of the way I’ll snap a few pictures.  It’s looking so good!

Stacey

Your bedroom is looking fabulous! I love your choice of lamps. That’s a great look with the new bed, and your artwork, bench and bedding all work perfectly with it too. You have such a good eye.

I know what you mean about letting things go while you’ve got the momentum going on your house. This decorating frenzy I’m in has made me ignore laundry to the point that I’m either going to have to wash some clothes or go buy new ones. :)

The bedroom is looking fabulous and I love the art!!

Curious to read about what you’re doing with the blog. We are needing to make the move too, which is equal parts awesome, terrifying and necessary. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

The lamps are cool! A little bit of elegance and a little bit industrial.

But you KNOW I am distracted by that green pillow Nice!

Am intrigued/scandalized by this upcoming change to a new host. The suspense is going to kill me….

Great progress, and the move to self-hosting should be nice! I’m looking forward to the “same great content” but now with “new and improved features”!

I have about a THOUSAND questions for you about switching to self-hosting. It’s on my list of things to do before the summer is over… however? The summer IS over, and the last thing I feel like doing is something super frustrating!! I’m kind of irritated with myself for not just having figured it out in the first place and done it right from the beginning.

Anyway, did you make the transition yourself? And, did you pull your hair out? I am not at all tech-y. But I can follow instructions…

I personally hope you do a detailed post about your experience. Although, maybe not everyone finds that interesting, and also might be boring for you to have to write it all down.

Your house looks amazing. It’s really coming together. But I know the feeling of one space finally getting spruced up… while the lawn looks like a jungle and the dirty clothes eat the laundry room…

Your bedroom looks so restful and the lamps are really nice looking and practical. I like to read every night in my bed before I go to sleep and I get really frustrated with my lamp as I try to move it around so I can see the pages. Your lamps also look like they’ll go with any decor, gonna look into them, thanks :)

Hi Jayne! Oh, I’m so happy you dig the lamps. I have been so excited about those… so I was anxious to share. Thanks for that! We both LOVE to read at night and it’s really the only 15 or 20 minutes I have that I’m not moving at 100 miles an hour. Having a good lamp is a MUST!
