Yarn-It!

I have nothing but complaints lately so I haven’t posted anything. It’s been a rough few days and I feel like I’m moving in slow motion. So I’ve decided to just breathe deep and tell you about it later… but for now I’ll share some pictures of a few fun things I did last week. Come on… it’s better than complaining. And just think, you’ll have that to look forward to.

When I’m feeling stressed it’s better for me to just sit down and do mindless things. I needed to do that.. and quick! So I pulled out some rolls of yarn I have in my craft pile and just played with it in the evenings. I always have things in my head that I want to try, or want to do and really they serve no purpose except to keep my hands busy, and make me ooooo and ahhh when I’m done.

I’ve been wanting to have a hanging plant in the guest bedroom and have these little white pots that I’ve done nothing with. I didn’t want the whole 1970’s macrame look complete with wood beads, braids and owls but rather a very simple, “clean” hanger made of yarn with very few knots. So I came up with this keeping a long “tail” and added a pom pom at the bottom instead of a tassel. The white pot was slightly boring so I just used some black con-tact paper to decorate the outside with some lines and dots around the top edge. When I get sick of it they peel right off. Simple, easy, fun, and it’s perfect for the little succulent I bought the other day.

After I made that little pom pom at the bottom I got crazy with pom poms.  A perfect mindless task.  Can’t you just see me sitting there rolling yarn around and around and around like a crazed woman.  Trust me, it was very therapeutic!

Here are just a few of the pom poms I made and stuck them on the ends of floral wire.  Pretty little pom flowers.  Pretty wacky and I like the bright color and texture.
Which then led to me wrapping this old vinegar bottle with all the yarn I had out.  I save a lot of bottles and cans.  I approach the trash can and just stare at it before I throw it away thinking “what can I do with this?  It’s a shame to throw it away”  I’m sure it drives Richie crazy.

The little Cathrine Holm inspired candle on the white tray was something I saw on one of my favorite blogs so I made that too.  It’s all stuff you can do without actually having to have any skill at all.  I love that!  I always say that I’m good at everything but great at nothing.  I’m too scatter-brained to actually get great at anything.  Although I do think I’m getting pretty great at sheet rock work.  More on that later and an update on home renovation and all the complaining that comes with recent happenings.  … stay tuned … if you’re into that sort of thing.  (laughing)
