Kitchen and Art

posted on

I’m getting bad about postings and I HATE THAT! I’m just so busy that I can’t find time to sit down and do it… not to mention that I keep forgetting to charge my camera battery. But here’s what we’ve been up to…

Richie had been working with the Art Museum to design and build these very large “boxes” for their fundraising gala (which I mentioned in an earlier post). He finished that up and we saw the finished product last Friday night. Part of the evening featured a gallery of “living art” inside these “boxes”. It was so amazing I can’t even believe it. I was in awe and could just kick myself in the butt for not bringing my camera and was forced to take shots with my phone, which is totally crappy. Some of them didn’t come out at all but I decided to post a few to give you an idea. The Museum PR person is going to share some really good photos with me… but I don’t know how soon that’ll be.

Here’s American Gothic by Grant Wood ….

Here’s the tableau vivant (modeled by Barbara Quinn and Albert Nolen)

The only one that didn’t come out was a Van Gogh Self-portrait with Bandaged Ear. I’ll post the really good ones when I get them. You MUST see them. AMAZING!

While we were at the Museum I shot a couple of pictures of Richie next to his Box in the Felix Fox Harris Exhibit. The museum bought this several years ago. He resisted a cheesy shot but I insisted!

As for me… I finished the Garden Club website and everything went well and all were pleased. It was fun!

Of course the kitchen continues. Here’s a quick look at the brick getting primer. It’s definitely becoming a MUCH BRIGHTER space.
My faucet arrived Friday and my oven and sink come this week. So we’re right on schedule. The cabinets are in progress and it won’t be long now. I’m waiting for one more estimate on my counters and I’m going with the Blanco Maple color. Once the template is made it’ll take about 10 days before they install. YEA!!! I don’t have to cook. WHOO HOO!

I love the picture below… look at the area above the microwave. You can see how much brighter the brick is from what it was.
WOW..who turned the light on. (HA!)

That brick is killing me. I cleaned it for two whole days. It was the biggest mess! One day at a time.
