Air Plants Get a Home

posted on
In an earlier post I showed you my new little air plants (Tillandsia) and have been working to find them a home. I purchased some globes from CB2 with this plan in mind but as I put one together I realized that although it looks lovely, surely I could come up with something a little more creative and “funky”.

This calls for a visit to Richie’s junk boxes! Richie is a “junker”, a lover of old things and a collector of some of the most amazing “junk”. He uses them in his artwork and is constantly bringing stuff home. A few weeks ago he brought home some old electrical line wire that workers left on the street. WHAT THE HELL? He knew how cool it was and when he took the sheath off of it there was this beautiful aluminum wire. We now how a nice little collection of strange wires (among other things). So after some twisting and bending I came up with something fun for two of my new plants. The glass balls are great, but the wire sculpture is me. Which only got my brain spinning on a million other ways to display these sweeties. I need medication! (ha!)

Hi! Well, join the plant freak club.. the more, the merrier. It seems I’m not the only one who can go a little crazy with it. It’s good to have the company!! The little air plants are wonderful because they can go anywhere…as long as you soak them for about 30-45 minutes at least once a week. I hope you do get some… you’ll marvel in their beauty and they will make you laugh a little too, because they’re so darn cute!
Thank you for commenting and for looking….. so nice of you!
